PARIS, Texas—Pleasant Grove finished its tuneup for the Class 4A soccer playoffs with a 2-1 victory over North Lamar at R.L. Maddox Stadium.
The Lady Hawks clinched the outright District 15-4A championship with an 8-1 record. They will begin the state playoffs next week against the fourth-place finisher from District 16-4A at a place and time to be determined.
Pleasant Grove advanced all the way to the Region II semifinals in 2018, losing 2-1 to Kilgore.
The Hawks scored two goals in defeating North Lamar. Aubrey Oller and Lauren Hughes kicked in the goals, with Delia Tuttlebee and Grace Pickelman assisting, respectively.
Pleasant Grove has a final non-district match on its schedule, hosting Class 5A Hallsville today at Hawk Stadium. Hallsville will be competing in the 5A state playoffs.
Pleasant Grove's junior varsity also wrapped up its district championship with a 2-1 win over North Lamar. The Hawk JV was 9-0 against district competition.
