Lady Tigers win; PG falls in tourney

GRAND SALINE, Texas — Texas High won a game and Pleasant Grove lost a pair during the first day of the Sulphur Springs softball tournament.

The tournament was moved to the turf field at Grand Saline due to wet fields.

Lauren Allred went 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI to lead the Lady Tigers to a 6-4 victory over Gilmer.

Elizabeth Smith was the winning pitcher for Texas High.

Lexi Snyder punched in a double for the Lady Hawks, but Prairiland sneaked past Pleasant Grove, 2-1.

McKenzie Williams and Presley Humphrey each had a single for the Hawks. Humphrey took the loss in the circle as she gave up two runs on four hits, struck one out and walked two.

Adi Koller walloped a triple for Pleasant Grove against Sulphur Springs, but the Hawks fell, 5-4. Snyder and Presley Hargrove each had a hit for the Hawks.

Snyder absorbed the loss, pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up two earned runs (five total) on three hits, struck out four and walked two.
