MARSHALL, Texas – Pleasant Grove’s softball team won its’ 4A bi-district playoff championship Thursday night on Adi Koller’s inside-the-park walkoff grand slam in the seventh to edge Henderson, 6-5.
Pleasant Grove’s Adi Koller hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to rally the Lady Hawks past Henderson in Thursday’s 4A bi-district playoff game.
The Lady Hawks advance to play District 13-4A champion Farmington or 14-4A’s Brownsboro in the area round next week.
Thursday’s game started as a pitchers’ duel, with Lexi Snyder in the circle for Pleasant Grove.
The Lions led 1-0 going to the fourth. Presley Humphrey doubled home the tying run. Henderson built a 5-2 cushion going to the seventh.
Pleasant Grove loaded the bases, and Koller hammered the first pitch she saw for the decisive hit. Koller, Snyder and MacKenzie Williams led the Hawks’ 10-hit attack with two hits each.
Snyder went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits and striking out two. She got outstanding defensive support from right fielder Hailey Allen. Allen made five catches, including a spectacular grab to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
