Pleasant Grove’s Lexi Snyder fired a five-inning 2-hitter Friday night to lead the Lady Hawks to a surprisingly easy 14-0 win over Farmersville in the Region II-4A area round.
Snyder walked only one and struck out five. She also had three hits, including a solo home run.
The Lady Hawks scored all the runs they would need with four in the first inning. An eight-run explosion in the third inning put the game out of reach for the Farmers. Snyder and Harleigh O’Neal singled in the third, and both scored on Timia Cooks’ triple. Presley Humphrey also drove in a run on a fielder’s choice.
The game was only five pitches old when Snyder hit her home run.
Pleasant Grove had 11 hits in the game. Mackenzie Williams, Cooks and Adi Koller had two hits each for the Hawks.
The winners also played errorless ball, while Farmersville had six errors.
Pleasant Grove advances to the Region II-4A quarter-finals to play Van or District 15-4A rival Gilmer.
