MARSHALL, Texas – Gilmer probably doesn’t want to see Pleasant Grove pitcher Lexi Snyder again anytime soon.
Snyder lost a heart-breaking 2-1 decision to the Lady Buckeyes in Saturday’s first game at Marshall High School. She then started, and finished in the circle, leading Pleasant Grove to a dramatic 3-2 win, and the Region II-4A quarter-finals title. The Lady Hawks now play Aubrey in the regional semifinals next week.
Pleasant Grove piled up 11 hits in Game 3 of the series. Hailey Allen led Pleasant Grove at the plate with three hits. Presley Humphrey had two hits, while Snyder walked twice and contributed a double.
Addy Walker, Natalie Nickolson, Zoey Smith, Mackenzie Williams and Tamia Cook had one hit each for the Hawks.
In Saturday’s first game both schools got outstanding pitching efforts. Snyder pitched a complete game, allowing three runs and striking out five. Snyder also accounted for Pleasant Grove’s only run with a homer in the sixth inning.
