Pleasant Grove seniors Carson Cox and Braxton Watkins each signed a letter of intent to play sports at the college level. Cox will play baseball for Wichita State University, and Watkins will play golf for the University of Houston.

"They are not only getting a baseball player, but a great athlete and one of the best at the school," Hawk head baseball coach Riley Fincher said. "Carson is a 3-year starter and is a fierce competitor. The way he competes has helped be successful, and he works hard in the weight room. "Carson is a great student-athlete and a great kid. He comes from good parents, is humble, and has a great work ethic. Carson has received accolades in baseball and football."

Watkins has been playing golf with Pleasant Grove since his freshman year. He has shot a 64 at the Links at Land's End, a 59 at Idabel Country Club, and a 62 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. "Braxton has won a lot of school tournaments," Hawk head golf coach Rick Rogers said. "He has played well at state tournaments too. Braxton is real smooth and doesn't let a bad shot bother him. He plays his game, makes good shots, and gets good scores."

Braxton, the future Cougars' golfer, is the son of Barry and Hollie Watkins. Carson, the future Shockers' baseball player, is the son of Billy and Lisa Cox.
