MARSHALL, Texas — If getting into the playoffs was step one, this game is obviously step two.

Pleasant Grove (12-13) takes on Tyler Chapel Hill (16-4) in a Class 4A, Region II bi-district playoff boys basketball game today at 7 p.m. at Maverick Gym.

"Chapel Hill has a very athletic team," Hawks' head coach Dwight McCowan said. "They are fast and pressure the ball. Their goal is to speed you up and turn you over. They want it to be a transition kind of game."

The Hawks placed third in District 15-4A, while the Bulldogs were runner-up in District 16-4A.

Playing for Pleasant Grove are Sam Bradshaw, Sergio Rodriguez, T'vondrick Henry, Tre Stuart, Landon Jackson, Brett Carmony, KJ Hicks, Antonio Watkins, Layton Jackson, Matthew Angier, Marcus Burris, Dylan Hopkins and Torey Phillips.

"Our goal is to keep them out of transition, let them turn the ball over and then we just have to make our layups," McCowan said. "It is easier said than done in making layups; we just have to get to the rim and finish.

"The team never gets too high or too low after a win or a loss. We are even keel and that's how we've been all season. We've been here before, and it's just a matter of putting it all together."

The Hawks made it to the regional semifinals last year, but were edged out by Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy, 58-54.

The winner plays Crandall or Mabank in the Class 4A area round.
