Four Leopards, three Hawks on 15-4A elite teams that’s dominated by Paris

All five Paris starters and head coach Billy Steed head to All-District 15-4A team selected by the league’s coaches.

Senior Trevon Dennis is the MVP after leading the Wildcats in scoring. Senior Trae Johnson was the defensive player of the year, while sophomore Braylon Mickens is the newcomer of the year.

Pleasant Grove junior D’Vondrick Henry was named the offensive player of the year.

Paris dominates with six selections

Paris senior Jameon Mitchell and sophomore Jaelyn Lee are first-team selections.

Liberty-Eylau has two first-teamers in seniors Javon Hunter and Kentraile Atkins. Atkins was the Leopards’ leading scorer, averaging 12.1 points per game. Hunter averaged a double-double with 10.5 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

Other first-team selections included North Lamar senior Christian Scott, and Pittsburg senior Cameron Layton.

 

The Leopards, Hawks and Pirates had two selections each on the second-team.

Seniors Beandre Wafer and R’Aiken Harris represent L-E. Juniors Brett Carmony and Marcus Burris were Pleasant Grove’s picks.

Pittsburg’s second-teamers are seniors Lamar Hughes and Promous Morrison.

Paris won the 15-4A championship. The Wildcats then reached the Region II-4A title game with five wins before losing to Faith Family of Oak Cliff.

Both L-E and Pleasant Grove lost in the bi-district round. Kilgore beat the Leopards, 42-39. Tyler Chapel Hill defeated the Hawks, 66-63.
