Pittsburg Lady Pirates survive Lady Hawks comeback attempt in 57-56 win at PG

The Pittsburgh Lady Pirates survived a Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks 4th quarter comeback Friday at the Hawks gym and barley got away with a 57-56 victory.

 

The Lady Hawks trailed by 9 points at the end of 3 quarter. However, the Lady Hawks took the lead with less than a minute to play. Pittsburg made a free throw with 5 seconds left and it was enough for the Lady Pirates to earn their first district game of the year. The Lady Hawks who do not have a returning varsity player from last year will have to wait till Tuesday for a chance to win their first district game when they’ll host Liberty-Eylau.

 

The Lady Pirates (1-1 in district) were led by Natalie Styles who scored 18 points and Kyleigh Posey who chipped in with fifteen. S’ange Hollins scored ten.

The Lady Hawks were led by Winter Crouch and Timia Cooks

Pleasant Grove’s leading scorers were Winter Crouch and Timia Cooks who each poured in 13 points. Winter Crouch was named the 94.1 FM ESPN-Exceed Urgent Care Player of the game. Peyton Mathews scored 10 points for the Lady Hawks (0-2 in district) while Addi Koller and Autumn Crouch each scored nine points.
