Pleasant Grove’s boys varsity basketball team survived a scare from cross town rival Liberty-Eylau in a 71-61 PG win at Hawks gym Friday.
Pleasant Grove did not lead in the game until their were 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Leopards led 22-12 after the first quarter and 42-33 at the half. The Hawks went on an 11-5 run to start the second half. They only trailed by three, 54-51 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The Hawks finally wore down the Leopards in the final quarter and won by 10 in a game that was closer than the score indicated.
The Pleasant Grove Hawks (11-6, 6-0) were led by T’vondrick Henry who scored eighteen. PG’s Torion Phillips scored 12, Brett Carmony poured in 11 and Torey Phillips chipped in with ten.

The Liberty-Eylau Leopards (1-11, 1-6) leading scorer was Tykylan Hampton who scored sixteen. Tahj Stewart scored 14 and Shawn White poured in twelve.
The Pleasant Grove Hawks boys next game is Tuesday night in Paris vs North Lamar. Pleasant Grove’s boys game at North Lamar will be broadcasted live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana.
Liberty-Eylau will host Paris Tuesday night at the Rader Dome in Texarkana. The game will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports Texarkana 97.1 FM and 1400 AM.
