The #17 Pleasant Grove Hawks boys basketball team wrapped up their district season with a 74-40 blow out win over Pittsburg at the Pirates gym in Pittsburg, Tx., Friday night. With the victory, and the Paris win in double overtime over Gilmer; the Hawks finished district co-district champs with Paris.
Pleasant Grove (16-6, 9-1) was led by seniors Torey Phillips and T’vondrick Henry. Phillips scored 21 and Henry pithead in with nineteen.
“It feels great to be co-district champs,” Dwight McCowan, Pleasant Grove head boys basketball coach said. “It’s been a blessing to coach these young men this season.
Pleasant Grove won a coin flip with Paris and decided to be the #2 seed in the 4-A Bi-District championship round.
The Hawks will play Kilgore weather permitting Thruway night at 7 p.m. in Marshall. If the game is rescheduled, it would be played Saturday in Marshall.
