Fifteen of 16 Pleasant Grove tennis players have qualified for the Region II-4A Tennis Tournament at Longview High School on April 26-27.

The Hawks cruised to the District 15-4A crown.

“This was a monumental performance for the tennis program,” said Pleasant Grove coach Erik Pickett. “I believe it is the most we have ever qualified to regionals in school history.”

 

PG tennis players go 1-2 in several events

Pleasant Grove’s boys were 1-2 in singles, with Ryan Franklin defeating Rhett Gatlin. The Hawks were also 1-2 in doubles. Jack Humphrey and Stone Robertson defeated Chance Tutolo and William Saldino.

The Hawks also finished 1-2 in mixed doubles. Rose Anderson and Grant Mitchell beat Ramsey Noble and Spencer Potts.

In the girls’ competition, the Lady Hawks were 1-2 in doubles. Anna Guan and Lilly Pace beat Elaina Shellogg and Autumn Crouch.

Courtney Kirk and Lauren Carroll were second and third, respectively, in girls’ singles.
