ROYSE CITY, Texas — Pleasant Grove's playoff journey ended on Friday.
Caddo Mills (12-0) remained unbeaten and edged the Hawks (9-4), 35-31, in a Class 4A, Div. II semifinal playoff football game at Royse City ISD Stadium.
"We hit some more adversity in this one," Pleasant Grove head coach Josh Gibson said. "A lot of our guys were knocked out of the game or injured, including a couple of our key guys. We had two wing backs in Logan Johnson and RJ Collins who got hurt during the game. We had other guys step up. When we're down and out, the kids find a way. They found a way to score and make this a game. We came up on the short end of it, and that one burns and is tough. We tip our hats to those guys.
"The seniors have to be proud of who they are and what they have accomplished. They have won more games in four years than any other class that has come through here. They've taken our community on a journey that is extremely special. Very few teams get to experience what our community has. I am proud to be their coach."
