The Pleasant Grove Hawks spoiled opening day for the Ashdown Panthers at Ashdown City Park Monday. The Hawks (5-1) outscored Ashdown 10-6 in front of a huge opening day crowd. The weather was perfect, in the low 70’s at game time.
Hawks pitchers Tucker Anderson and Brayden combined for the win. Together, they struck out 9 and allowed 8 hits.
Joe Paredes was 3-for-4 for the Panthers. Will Burnett was 2-for-4. Brett Bond went 2-for-5.
Pleasant Grove’s leading hitter was DH Marshall Cox. Cox was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, and RBI and 4 runs scored. Cox was the 94.1 FM ESPN-Exceed Urgent Care player of the game. The game was broadcasted live on 94.1 FM ESPN.
The Hawks next games will be in the Springhill Tournament in Longview Thursday through Saturday. Pleasant Grove opens district Tuesday March 10th at home against Pittsburg.
