Pleasant Grove Hawks split first two games at Springhill Tournament

A&M Consolidated decidedly defeated the Hawks in the first game 9-1 behind a 1-hit,  5 inning pitching performance from the Eagles TCU commit Garrett Wright. Wright strurk out 10 Hawks in the game called after 5 innings. The only hit was a solo home run by Brock Bearden. Bearden is just a sophomore. However, his towing blast over the right center field wall at Panther Field avoided the shutout. It was Bearden’s first Jimmie-Jack of the season.

Wright has committed to play college ball at TCU and he threw pitches well over 90 miles per hour all game.

Jackson Cobb hits a grand slam in the Hawks win vs Wills Point

Pleasant Grove topped Wills Point 12-6 in the second game at Springhill. Senior Jackson Cobb who has committed to Arkansas hit a grand slam for the Hawks to lead them in the win. Cobb was playing in his first games back after suffering a leg injury.

 

The Hawks are now 6-2 on the season going into their games today and tomorrow at the Springhill Tournament. Today (Friday) the Hawks will play Mount Pleasant at 1:10 p.m. and again on Saturday against opponents to be announced.

Today’s Pleasant Grove vs Mount Pleasant game will be broadcasted live on the air on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana. Bob DelGiorno will proved the play-by-play for all the Hawks baseball games on the radio this season.

 

The Hawks open their district season Tuesday at home at Hawks Field in Texarkana, Tx., vs Pittsburg. The PG vs Pittsburg game will also be carried live on 94.1 FM ESPN. Pregame show Tuesday will begin at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch at 6 p.m.
